Art Through the Lens of Science
Realistic wildlife drawings informed by decades of scientific field research.
Nature Rendered with Precision
Tantilla Art features highly detailed, realistic wildlife and natural-history artwork by biologist and artist Michael E. Dorcas, Ph.D. Drawing on decades of scientific fieldwork and close observation, his work captures the anatomy, behavior, texture, and presence of animals with precision and respect.
Working primarily in colored pencil and graphite, Michael also explores selected western subjects inspired by animals, landscape, and tradition. Grounded in scientific accuracy and artistic expression, each piece serves as both an aesthetic object and a visual record of the natural world—inviting viewers to slow down, look closely, and deepen their sense of curiosity, connection, and care.
